New Tools on My Belt

My portfolio has gone through several iterations since I first began building it in 2018. Not just from the layout and personal branding, but the content and quality of my work.

When I look at my early work, I can see it had potential. I'm glad I’ve had opportunities to keep learning and improving my skills up to where I am now.

As my work has continued to improve, I’ve also improved my ability to update my portfolio. I've figured out better ways to organize my files – like sorting by year, client, and project. Or completely switching to using Dropbox instead of relying on my computer storage or an external hard drive.

I’m always on the hunt for quicker and more efficient methods to streamline my work. And today, I stumbled upon a real gem – the Google Chrome plugin, FireShot. In case you haven't come across it yet, this tool lets you take a complete screenshot of web pages.

Maybe you’re thinking, “So what?” because you already have a similar tool. The reason this plugin is such a game changer is it allows me to export web content, such as email templates I’ve previously designed, into a PDF.

A PDF that I can then crop and export into a JPEG file for easy web viewing.

Let’s take a step back to just a few months ago when I mundanely was snapping tons of screenshots and weaving them together with Photoshop. As quick as I am, it was a real grind. But within twenty or so minutes today, I was able to export and upload over a dozen email designs.

We live in an era now where we are producing more content than ever. It is exhilarating and with that, adding tools like this to my belt makes the process even more enjoyable.
