A Photographic Journey

For my advanced digital photography class, I've chosen to focus on downtown Las Vegas, exploring its history and culture through my lens. My goal is to capture not just the buildings, but also the stories and character of this iconic area.

My first visit was to the Old Mormon Fort, the oldest structure in Nevada. Established in the mid-19th century, it was once a bustling center. Walking through its grounds, I could almost imagine the fort's heyday, and I found its weathered walls and historic charm captivating.

I then wandered through historic downtown Las Vegas, where the neon lights and vibrant streets tell tales of the city's past. The Neon Museum was a highlight, showcasing the neon signs of old casinos and hotels. Each photo I took seemed to capture a piece of the city's unique history.

My professor's advice to keep an open-ended approach has been invaluable. It has allowed me to explore beyond just the physical structures and to capture the essence of downtown Las Vegas in a more profound way.

As I continue my photographic journey, I look forward to uncovering more hidden gems and untold stories that make downtown Las Vegas a truly special place.
