Reviving My Blog
When I first launched my portfolio website at the end of 2018, my intention was to maintain an active blog showcasing my growth as a designer and my perspectives on industry trends. However, after a few months, I realized that I wasn't consistently updating it. A meeting with my mentor at the time confirmed that unless it remained active, it shouldn't be a part of my portfolio.
So why am I deciding to restart it now, three years later?
Over the past year, I underwent a major overhaul of my portfolio. I showcased the work I did at Golden Steer Steak Company and included various passion projects from my journey thus far. Instead of merely displaying my work, I began delving into the underlying thought processes and documenting each step of my progress.
As I've grown into my role as an Art Director and continue to update my portfolio, I've come to realize that my design process holds deeper meaning than before. While there was always a process, symbolism, and such, my decision-making has become more deliberate. I am now able to better articulate my thoughts, which allows my portfolio to more accurately reflect who I am as a creative.
Over the next few weeks I plan to share additional blogs on the following topics:
My Next Step in Digital Design Media
Diving into Coding: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
The Transition from Designer to Art Director
AI and Why I Don't See it as Competition
There will be other topics as well, but these are at the forefront of my mind. Stay tuned for my next update before the end of the month.
